Judith Poirier (MA Royal College of Art, London) lives and works in Montréal. She is a professor at the School of Design, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), as well as an experimental filmmaker, book designer and letterpress practitioner. Her work focuses on the use of typography and abstraction, and through this exploration she has developed an animation technique that employs an aleatoric approach to letterpress printing and sound production. Judith’s films have been screened and recognized at numerous international festivals, including Best Canadian Film Award in 2013 and an Honourable Mention at the 2016 Nashville Film Festival.
