Hamilton offers unpaid internships for individuals who wish to advance their skills while working on the museum's behalf. Candidates should have a strong interest in art, history or library sciences, be highly motivated and comfortable working within a studio environment. Interns help maintain the studio facilities a portion of their time, including cleaning and organizing the studio for general upkeep and usage for rentals and workshops. Interns should also be prepared to help catalogue and preserve the collection stored here at the museum.
As your experience progresses, you’ll have the opportunity to work with more of the museum’s collection and equipment. Printing projects during the internship vary with experience and may include 1 to 3 color registration jobs, event promotional materials, custom designs and other interesting projects. Supervised by the museum director and assistant director, interns receive guidance on executing jobs they are not familiar with and the freedom to plan and produce the job on their own if ready.
Hamilton offers internships throughout the year. Internships are unpaid, with sessions ranging from the required minimum of 1 month to 2 months or longer. Housing, meals and transportation are the responsibility of the intern.
As a way of sharing Hamilton history and the enjoyment of letterpress printing, we extend this internship program to both working professionals and students. Due to limited space in each session, applications must be received at least two months before the date applied for. Contact the museum at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions regarding the internship program.
Send your resume with a letter of intent explaining why you would like to intern at Hamilton, what you expect to gain from the experience and what you have to offer to our organization. If you have work you would like to show, please include that as well.
Digital applications may be sent to email@example.com; printed applications may be sent to 1816 10th St., Two Rivers, WI 54241. Portfolio samples will not be returned.
Submit a completed intern application form with your application.
