Create your own ornamented letterforms using brayers, stencils and resist techniques. Participants in this workshop will begin with wood type letters of their choosing to form the base of decorated capitals. Taught by the museum's artistic director Bill Moran, you'll learn how to use masking techniques, pressure printing and paper texture as a way to embellish inside and outside your letterform. This workshop is made possible through the generous support of Hoefler & Co.
For inspiration we'll view the Renaissance Capital exhibit that will be featured in Hamilton's gallery. After the class stick around for the opening reception of the show from 5-7 pm.
The workshop runs from 9am until 5pm. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes that may get ink on them. The cost is $125 per person with the museum providing all the materials you need. If you would like to bring your own carving tools you can.
Space is limited, so registration and a $65 non-refundable deposit is required. The $60 balance is due at the beginning of the workshop. Cash, credit cards and checks are accepted.
Because of the nature of the pressroom and the pieces being used participants in the workshop must be 18 years or older. Please fill out the registration form below to reserve your place in the workshop. If you have any questions please e-mail us at info@woodtype.org or call 920-794-6272.
