Lydia Hershauer (pronouns she/her/hers) is a designer and interdisciplinary artist currently located in the central Michigan area. She graduated with her BFA in Graphic Design at Central Michigan University and has been able to exhibit her work locally, nationally, and internationally. As a designer, she manipulates typography digitally or on the press to either create playful compositions or powerful messages. She is passionate about weaving together the bold and the soft in an attempt to focus on what could be. The core of her work is motivated by empathy, curiosity, experimentation, and thoughtfulness.
Description of Process
I first digitally manipulated the type in Illustrator. It was then cut out on MDF using a laser cutter. From there, it was printed on the press with lead type. I used different consistencies of ink and a hand roller to get the texture.
