The Two-Color Letterpress Poster Workshop - July 13

Saturday July 13 9am⎻4pm

Join us to learn the aspects of multi-color poster printing.

Learn how to print two-color historic blocks with Master Printer Jim Moran. In this one-day workshop we will be using blocks from the Globe Collection at Hamilton to print bright and bold posters.

To guide the way, we will look at examples from Hamilton, Hatch Show Print, Globe at MICA, and Tribune Showprint posters. The museum collection contains many multi-color plates that, when printed together, create stunning imagery. Learn about registration, color choice and mixing, type setting, and tips and tricks for printing with vintage blocks.

The workshop runs from 9 am to 4 pm. The day starts off with instruction on printing and using a sign press. The majority of the workshop consists of printing with blocks and wood type from a large collection available in the pressroom at the museum.

Everyone breaks for lunch at the same time. Options include purchasing a lunch for $15, bringing your own lunch (a refrigerator is available), or choosing a local restaurant. Clean-up begins at 3 pm and the day finishes up at 4 pm. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes that may get ink on them. Because of the nature of the pressroom and the pieces being used, participants in the workshop must be 18 years or older.

The cost is $125 with all materials provided by the museum. Space is limited, so reservations and a $65 non-refundable deposit are required. Please complete the registration form below to reserve your place. The $60 balance is due at the beginning of the workshop. Cash, credit cards and checks are acceptable.
