Letterpress Workshop: Big Wood Type - February 18

Saturday, February 18 9am - 4 pm CST

Print with unique pieces of history at the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum in this one-day workshop.

Take this opportunity to print with blocks that are not often available in workshops! Join us for a fun day of printing with large wood type blocks. Hamilton has the world’s largest collection of wood type and many of them are big wood type! We will be offering type that fills the page. The classroom selection of wood type will also be available, so you could explore just large type or create finished designs using other fonts.

Experience Level:
No experience necessary. The minimum age requirement for workshop participants for this event is 18+.

The workshop runs from 9 am to 4 pm. The day starts off with instruction on printing and using a sign press. The majority of the workshop consists of printing with wood type from a large collection available in the pressroom at the museum.

Everyone breaks for lunch at the same time. Options include purchasing a lunch for $15, bringing your own lunch (a refrigerator is available), or choosing a local restaurant. Clean-up begins at 3 pm and the day finishes up at 4 pm. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes that may get ink on them. Because of the nature of the pressroom and the pieces being used, participants in the workshop must be 18 years or older.

The cost is $125 with all materials provided by the museum. Space is limited, so reservations and a $65 non-refundable deposit are required. Please complete the registration form below to reserve your place. The $60 balance is due at the beginning of the workshop. Cash, credit cards and checks are acceptable.
