Introduction to Exposed Bindings Workshop with Julie Baugnet ⎻ August 8

Friday, August 8 9am–4pm Central

In this workshop we'll make 3 books with exposed bindings. A multi-section 4 needle binding, a Japanese stab zig zag binding, and a traditional codex with straps and a soft cover.   These books are great for sketching and writing as they lay flat and they are easy to make at home. You'll have time to explore variations and print your covers using eraser prints and an ink pad. At the end of the day you will have a series of new books and skills.

Outcomes:
Learn to prepare signature and fold paper
Techniques for stabbing holes and piercing sections
Work with straps to create a firm binding
Learn about paper and craft techniques
