In this virtual workshop, we will explore Sintra Board, a brand of PVC board often used for advertising and signage, that happens to work wonders in a letterpress setting. We will cover transfer methods, carving it, writing or pressing textures into its semi-soft surface, and how to use it additively with existing type or blocks. I’ll share some favorite prints from my collection that utilize this material, and we’ll cover how to print it at home by hand, or on a press in a production environment.
This class is suitable for total beginners, teachers, or printers looking to experiment with different mark making techniques for a new carving material. No press is necessary.
