MAKE A DENT

Since the early 16th century the printing press has been used to share important information with the public. From announcements and warnings, to propaganda and praise, the power of the press has been used for centuries to tell important stories.

Author and literary icon Studs Terkel said the purpose of life is “To make a dent.” In this workshop, we’ll use the type in the collection to create posters with bite. We will make a literal and figurative impression by printing bold messages on paper. Do you have something important to say? Come to the workshop and put it on paper.

A unique opportunity to take a one-day letterpress printing workshop with TRANSIT Resident, Ben Blount. Ben is a printer, designer, and art director that loves type, paper, ink. He spends his days and nights playing with some combination of the three. Ben is a native Detroiter who lives right outside of Chicago by beautiful Lake Michigan.
