Book style: Longstitch binding
We are thrilled to announce guest instructor Katya Reka, book and fiber artist, graphic designer and educator, is leading this bookmaking workshop at the Hamilton Museum.
Join this workshop to learn how to create a perfect sketchbook for travels using a long-stitch binding method. This binding allows the book to open flat. The long-stitch notebook can be constructed using soft cover materials such as leather, cloth and sturdy paper.
Create several books using Cave paper for the cover. Use of printing, cut-outs, secret compartments and other embellishments will be demonstrated. You will learn how to plan the binding, prepare the text block and create variations of the long-stitch binding.
All materials and tools are provided. The workshop runs from 9:30am to 5 pm. Space is limited, therefore reservations and a $50 non-refundable deposit are required at registration. The $50 to fulfill the full cost of the workshop is due the day of the workshop. Please complete the registration form below to reserve your place. If you have any questions please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 920.794.6272.
