Saturday Aug. 6, 2016 2-3pm

We are extending the "Hamilton Stories: An Oral History" events! There are many individuals who are important to the history of Hamilton as a factory and museum. This series is recording and preserving their stories. Join us at 2 pm on August 6 to hear an interview with Jim Van Lanen Sr. He is past president of the Two Rivers Historical Society and a founder of the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum. Jim owns and operates the Light House Inn in Two Rivers. He will share what it took to start the museum, how it has changed through the years, and who has worked together to make it such a successful organization.

The Hamilton Manufacturing Company started in Two Rivers, Wisconsin in 1880 and grew to become the largest manufacturer of wood type in the United States. The factory established a culture of quality, pride, and innovation in the company that affected the community for many years to come, both as a large employer for area residents as well as a lasting legacy for the area.
